Open to WCOA member governments (State, Federal, Tribal) and invited guests.

    • If you plan to participate in the Quinault-hosted clam dig, please purchase your WDFW license:

      • Visit https://fishhunt.dfw.wa.gov/login

      • Hit “View Available Products”  enter your resident or non-resident status and on the next page of licenses Search for “razor clam”. See the  Temporary 3-day Razor Clam License ($7.70) image at right.

      • Set up a user account, if needed, and select three consecutive dates for your license.

      • Potential dates for digging in front of the Quinault Resort include:

        • Sunday January 12

        • Monday January 13

        • Thursday January 16

    • Reminder: The weather on the Washington coast in January can be unpredictable; if you plan to be outside, please bring layers and appropriate gear for rain!

    • Ocean Shores location: Please see the map below for the location fo the Quinault Beach resort in relation to SeaTac Airport.

2024 Offshore Wind Energy Summit

“In Support of Strong Partnerships and Sound Science”

The West Coast Ocean Alliance hosted the Offshore Wind Energy Summit “In Support of Strong Partnerships and Sound Science” in April 2024 in Sacramento, California. The Summit was made possible with funding from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA). Over two days, 76 members attendees engaged with invited speakers and each other to accomplish the following goals:

  • Establish a foundational understanding of key elements of science, planning, and management activities related to offshore wind energy.

  • Create an initial framework to help define the Alliance’s role in supporting members with their offshore wind communication, collaboration, and coordination needs for improving science, planning, stewardship, and management efforts.

2023 West Coast Ocean Alliance Summit

In October 2023, the West Coast Ocean Alliance (Alliance or WCOA) convened its Annual Members Summit and Tribal Caucus Summit in Portland, Oregon. During the Annual Summit, Tribal, federal, and state government representatives gathered to build and strengthen relationships, discuss Alliance currently-funded projects, and broadly inform the goals of WCOA’s 5-year strategic plan. The Annual Summit was structured to ensure informational updates and perspectives were shared by a wide range of Tribal, federal, and state government representatives. Both Summits prioritized small group discussions.

There were 55 WCOA members present across both Summits, representing 15 Tribal Nations, 4 Tribal organizations, 14 federal government agencies, and 9 state government agencies. Both Summits were funded by the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration with additional funding from Bonneville Environmental Foundation for the Annual Summit and The Ford Family Foundation, Affiliated Tribes of the Northwest Indians and Roundhouse Foundation for the Tribal Caucus Summit.

2023 West Coast Ocean Tribal Summit

In October 2023, the West Coast Ocean Alliance (Alliance or WCOA) convened its Annual Members Summit and Tribal Caucus Summit in Portland, Oregon. The Tribal Caucus Summit provided Tribal leaders and representatives the opportunity to share stories about their experiences, lessons learned, strategies, and needs related to co-management and stewardship, offshore wind, data sovereignty, joint decision-making, and consultation with federal and state government partners. Both Summits prioritized small group discussions.
