West Coast Ocean Tribal Caucus
A place where Tribal Nations can come together for the ocean
The West Coast Ocean Tribal Caucus initially formed in 2014 to support collaboration and engagement between Tribal Nations on the West Coast. As of 2023, twenty Tribal Nations are members.
The Tribal Caucus provides a space for inter-Tribal sharing, learning, communication, and solidarity around ocean health, uses, and issues.
Our Objectives
-
Improve understanding of tribal rights and trust responsibilities
-
Ensure inclusion and consideration of traditional knowledge in ocean management and decision-making as appropriate
-
